intensifies outreach to Filipinos in Switzerland
Leslie Baja, together with some Embassy officials, attended the 19th
anniversary celebration of El Shaddai-Frick Chapter on 04 May 2013 and the Perfect
Way Au Pair Annual gathering in Brugg in canton Aargau on 5 May 2013, as part
of its outreach to Filipinos in Switzerland.
Shaddai celebration was attended by more than sixty (60) people, both Filipinos
and Swiss, while the Au Pair gathering was attended by more than 50 Au-Pairs
from different cantons of Switzerland.
Baja congratulated the members of El Shaddai on their anniversary celebration and
encouraged them to continue helping spread and preserve the Filipino catholic
tradition and values. He underscored the role of El Shaddai in helping unite
the Filipino community in Switzerland, not only for religious purposes, but
also for the greater good of the community and the country.
Ambassador Baja encouraged Filipino Au Pairs
to continue upholding the excellent reputation of Filipinos in Switzerland as
hardworking and trustworthy foreign nationals.
He pointed out that this excellent reputation makes the Filipinos the
better ambassadors of the Philippines to this country.
reminded those present of the on-going elections and enjoined them to cast
their ballots and exercise their right of suffrage to help make a difference in
the political culture of the country. Relatedly, he informed them of the
newly-launched Tambayan Pinoy Swiss (TFC)
Channel, whose pilot episode is about overseas voting. He added that the
TPS was created primarily to reach out to Filipinos using various social media
to inform them of developments that are of relevance to them.
Baja also encouraged them to support and participate in the forthcoming
celebration of the Philippine Independence, which will be held on 15 June in
Volketswil, Zurich. END
