Philippine Embassy organized a briefing for newly arrived Filipinos in Switzerland
April 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Berne organized a briefing for
newly arrived Filipinos in Switzerland at the Chancery in Berne.
The briefing was conducted by a Filcom member Ms. Vivian Kiefer-
Vargas, a long time resident in Switzerland and a freelance consultant
on Swiss migration laws and policies.
The briefing seminar was attended by Au pairs from different Au pair
agencies in Switzerland, professional trainees from the Technical
Trainee program and some OFWs who have recently arrived in Switzerland.
The briefing which aims to complement the Pre-departure orientation by
Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and the in-country briefing by
Au Pair agencies, discussed actual work scenarios/ environment which
which Au Pairs and trainees operate, as well as tips on how they can
survive in such environment.
Since it was also the first day of overseas voting, the Embassy took
advantage of the opportunity to give a short briefing on overseas
voting. The occasion provided discussion for the attendees to
clarify the procedure on overseas voting, including the instructions
from the COMELEC on how to properly fill in their ballots and how to
properly seal the ballot envelopes.
The briefing ended with a short message from Ambassador Leslie Baja
encouraging the attendees to exercise their right of suffrage and
participate in the political process in the Philippines through
overseas absentee voting. He also appealed to them to inform
their friends and other registered Filipino overseas voters to cast
their votes this election.
