Ambassador Baja inducts Caraga-Swiss’ new officers

Ambassador Leslie J. Baja inducted on 28 April 2013 the new set of officers of Caraga-Swiss at an oath-taking ceremony held at Restaurant zum Weissen Schaf in Schottikon.
The new officers who took their oath include Edimario Casangcapan (President); Corazon Gähler (Vice President); Cecille Schneider (First Secretary); Marife Quizana (Second Secretary); Barceliza Preid (Treasurer); and Joel Taghoy (Auditor).
The organization’s advisers, Messrs. Brady Eviota and Lourse Ortega, and Ms. Evangeline Vitteger, were also present during the occasion.
Caraga-Swiss was founded in 2005 primarily to promote the cultural heritage of the Caraga region, which is located on the northeastern part of Mindanao, and is composed of the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands.
The organization also assists newly-arrived Caragans in Switzerland adjust to their new environment through the provision of social and civic activities where they could interface with their kababayans from the region who have been long-time residents in Switzerland. 
Caraga Swiss has to date also organized several fund-raising activities to help victims of typhoons in the Philippines and support a number of charitable projects in the Caraga region. It also occasionally helps sponsor cultural groups from the Philippines in staging performances in Switzerland.  END
