Philippine Embassy in Berne Conducts Seminar
on Gender and Development

The Philippine Embassy in Berne conducted a Seminar on Gender and Development on
17 April 2010 to promote the Filipino community’s development and
integration in Switzerland while maintaining Filipino cultural
identity. The Seminar is the third in a series of
workshops/seminars in connection with the Embassy’s continuing projects
on Gender and Development Program of the Department of Foreign
Affairs. The participants are leaders of their respective
organizations from the different cantons of Switzerland namely: Berne,
Fribourg, Basel, Lucerne, and Zurich.
The Filipino-Swiss nationals listened to the presentation of Ms. Ursula
Heitz, a Swiss official from the Bureau of Integration of the City of
Berne. She presented the various social services of the city
including offering courses and learning the German language.
Ambassador Maria Theresa P. Lazaro encouraged the participants to make
use of the opportunities offered to them by the Swiss government by
taking a pro-active role in disseminating the information from the
Swiss authorities to the members of their communities.
